Large Paintings Coming Soon

A while back, I said that I still have some paintings that I plan on publishing once I find a big enough scanner.
Yesterday I took those paintings to the city and had them scanned.
So now I am finally able to publish those large archive images.
And if all goes to plan, half of those images shall be published this Friday.
As for the rest of them, I'm saving them for an August release.

Plans For a New Strategy

As you know, selling reprints of my artwork is not all that profitable. Some would even go as far as to call it a failure. The problem, as far as I can tell, is not with the inferior quality of the archive images, but rather with my attempts at advertising. Early on I attempted to advertise using videos. These early attempts were plagued with faults, everything from awful video quality to terrible sound. Plus making them was always more trouble than it was worth. My more recent attempts are simpler to make and have better video, but lack sound. So recently I've been considering a new strategy, hence the reason for this article. What if I were to document the process of creating new artwork? Perhaps someone would be interested in that.

Future Project Ideas

Most people would consider poor sales a failure.
But I'm not giving up just yet! I still have a few ideas left.
So here are a few ideas for what I could create over the next few years:

  • The Barns at the Bangor State Fair [Graphite Pencil]
  • Norlands Washburn Residents [Graphite Pencil]
  • Otter Cliff Landscape [Graphite Pencil]
  • Echo Lake: Beach View [Graphite Pencil]
  • Echo Lake: Mountain View [Graphite Pencil]
  • Bass Harbor Lighthouse [Graphite Pencil]
  • Cadillac Mountain Landscape [Graphite Pencil]

Some of these locations are places that I visited last year.
And most of them are places where I took photographs that I can use to create artwork of them.
There is no guarantee that I'll actually use all these Ideas this decade.
But I do intended on creating at least one of these this year.

You probably noticed that I didn't list any ideas for color images.
The reason for this is, aside from more additions to the Farm Stand series,
I don't have as many ideas for new color images.
However: I do still plan on publishing existing color images!
There are three archive images listed on the Portfolio page which I may publish this month if all goes to plan.
And I still have some paintings that I plan on publishing once I find a big enough scanner.

Consumers Fuel Marina [Graphite Pencil] Now Complete!

Back in March, I announced that this image was in production.
Today I finally finished what I started many months ago.

Some of you may be wondering why it took so long to complete the picture.
And I shall answer this question later this week when I publish the description.
As for the image itself, it shall be published on Redbubble™ this Friday! November 8, 2019 to be precise.
And maybe, just maybe mind you: I shall also publish one or two other new images alongside this one.

Look for "Consumers Fuel Marina [Graphite Pencil]" this Friday! November 8, 2019!

Postscript: Some of my older images have recently been to and shall be published at a later date.

My First Sale!

It's finally happened! My first sale!
A "Copper Kettle [Chalk Pastel]" greeting card is now on it's way to Scotland!
I opened my shop on Redbubble™ in June 2018 and published artwork once a month throughout that year.
I eventually began to wonder if there was anyone out there interested. 'Tis good to know that there actually is.

Name Change

'Fine Art by: Nathaniel E. Dearing" is now simply:
"Artwork by: Nathaniel E. Dearing". The reason for this change is because most of my artwork just doesn't qualify as fine art. So I decided that a more honest name would be for the best.

And of course, the URL for this website will be changed to follow suit once I find a way to do that without breaking everything.

Further Delays

At this point, my shop may not be open for business until June or July, unfortunately.
However, the reproductions are still going to be available for purchase eventually.
This is not false advertising, I just have a few obstacles to get past still.
If not for that, reproductions would have been available back in November.

Delay Notice:

Due to circumstances beyond my control: all work on (and relating to) this project has been halted. However I should hopefully have everything resolved, and be open for business by May 2018.

To be honest, the plan was to open before the Christmas season. Delays are embarrassing! and bad for business. And why didn't I publish this notice sooner?
